Across Afghanistan, women educators are running secret classrooms so girls can keep learning in safety and hope.

Help us fund underground schools in Afghanistan to keep education alive.
Since 2021, Afghan women educators have organized a secret network of schools that operate out of private homes. These classrooms give girls a chance to continue learning despite the ban on secondary education.
The underground schools have reached more than 15,000 students in over 40 secure locations across the country. Fifty Afghan teachers lead lessons in literacy, languages, and practical skills that prepare students for independent futures. Their work continues discreetly, sustained by courage and the belief that learning should never stop.
How the Schools Work
Each school begins with a single room and a handful of students. Some have grown to hundreds, including literacy classes for women who were once denied any education.
Lessons cover literacy, languages, science, and practical skills — knowledge that helps students build confidence now and prepare for the future.
